Would you guys like to go to Outer Space?
« on: November 07, 2005, 11:07:00 pm »
I have a keen interest in Outer Space, but I don't really want to be an Astronaut. :| Due to all the dangers that occur in Space. Like, drifting far into Space, even if we have training for that, electronics going outta control and such, or having your rocket explode! But still, Space is pretty cool, but I wouldn't want to go THAT far away from home! :) What about you guys? Would you guys go to space? Not me though. :|

I'd like to go to space, yeah! But I'm not sure I could go on a EVA. I mean, just looking off into the distance seeing all that nothingness I might end up drifting though... and if I'm looking at Earth, I'd probably crap myself. Talk about vertigo! But I'd still like to try it sometime.
Soon to be a major motion picture!

Depends. If I get to fight in an awesome mech battle, then sure. But if I get sucked into a black hole and become lost in a void then no.

Dude... -_-  first of all, there IS no air in Space, second, no air = no weather also, and third, since there is none of that in Space, then stay in Earth then! -_-

A mech battle? Awesome! 8)  Black Hole? Whoa...! That's another thing I'm afraid of... but black holes, I don't think there are any in the Solar System, but you CAN drift into Deep Space.

If I'm in a stable craft, like the Pyro-GX, then sure, I'll go anywhere I wanna. In some experimental craft though, I wouldn't risk it.

[who coulda seen the Pyro-GX coming?]

The thing I dislike about space is its vast emptiness. I mean, it supposedly stretches on for nearly eternity. Heck, we're nowhere near exploring 1/3 of our own solar system.

Dude, that's why they call it distance. You never know when you'd make it somewhere. Like, if you were to go to Mars, it'll probably take a year, Uranus would be 23 years, and Pluto, pphhhh, you have NO idea how long. You'd probably need like, the world's fastest rocket ever to reach the planets on time and such. But look on the bright side, at least you got the stars to entertain you while you're on your journey.

See? :) (That page includes like star animation. If you got Java, you can explore the space emptiness. :) )

Yeah, you have a point. Space is a very interesting thing. It's just the idea of how big it really is that always nags at me.

Hm....

Imagine me playing Descent while flying towards Zeta Aquilae in the Pyro-GX.......

That'd be funky..... heh. Too bad the Pyro-GX is too fast.

But seriously now.....

With massive distance needing to be covered for space travel, the main problem is kind of dieing along the way. I think cryogenic sleep, ala 2001 a Space Oddesy, would be the best method for flying to other star systems.

Just my thoughts, anyways.

Yeah, but you know, there IS the end of the Uniiverse! But it'll take you the LONGEST time to get there, in fact, you'll DEFINTELY never make it! In fact, here, check this out!

http://www.angelfire.com/ms2/space/Earth.html

It's a bio of the Earth, but above it is the star animation. It's like the classic screensaver, but it's pretty entertaining. :) In fact, you can move around using the cursor! Cool, huh? :) You need Java to use it.

Yeah, I mean, have you ever heard of Monkeys being sent into space before humans? Unfortunatly, it was bad for them, cause they've died along the way and never returned to Earth! But one monkey managed to go on a journey to deep space and manage to make it back to Earth! :D After that, the first humans were launched into space. Pretty cool, huh? But those poor monkeys though... :(

Exactly! Spacemonkeys were used before humans, to see how dangerous and safe space is. Some made it back to Earth, most of them... died...

Nothing has gone to deep space, dude. Deep space is what you call the area's outside of the solar system.

Of course there isn't breathable air in space, but there is still temperature. No human in our lifetime is gonna make it far in space b/c our technology blows. After Jupiter, each planet's distance from the Sun about doubles. The closest supposed blackhole is at our galaxy's center, which is a rediculous distance away.
