A problem with my GB games!
« on: August 25, 2006, 04:28:16 pm »
There are problems with my old GB games! When I play them on my GB, they sometimes freeze alot and then I end up blowing on them alot until I practically run out of air! >_< I wonder if the carts are dirty, or it's the GB itself! Some games, I have no prblem with! However, I would put those ear cleaners on the carts to clean out any dirt are something to see if it's the problem, but they still turn out bad! I wonder what's up with these games, cause sometimes, I can't enjoy playing with the GB without having to blow on them all the time to make it work! It may be old, but some work perfectly! What could be the problem, cause I'm thinking the carts are dirty! If so, how do I clean them without causing any problems so they work perectly on my GB again? What to do? :?

I clean mine with either a fresh toothbrush (MAKE SURE IT WAS NEVER USED AND DON'T WET IT OR I'LL MELT YOU DOWN. MY WAY), a cotton ball or a cotton swab.

Also, be sure not to rape the internal components when cleaning.

If all else fails, call N or get out.

I'd say the majority of people who own a Game Boy have more than one, so just try another one.  I doubt it's your games that're the problem, or it's just a big coincidence.

What if the GB is dirty, or it has a problem reading the games? What should I do about it?

I doubt N can do anything! The GB's too old for repairs! Would GameStop help to repair it or something? :?

Ninty will repair them, if they have the components, but it will cost you. I'd suggest calling thier customer service line. Also; blowing on your carts isn't really a good idea, I mean, I do it, but you shouldn't blow and blow and blow until you run out of air, because it doesn't do anything, it's just superstition.

On the other hand, whenever I couldn't get an NES game to work, if I'd blow on it after eating pizza, it'd load.

Clean the connectors with isopropyl alcohol and a q-tip. It even works on my old N64 games.

I don't think Nintendo can repair the GB due to it's age! I would have to buy another one!

But I don't wanna replace the GB that I've had for over 17 years! Repair only if the problem gets worse, or if there are no other options!

And I don't think the cart is the problem! Probably the GB! It was told that this is because of my GB cartridge port being a bit... shaky. Sometimes it happens and when so, the cartridge goes out of place and the connection between the GB cart and the port is lost. They said I should wrap tape between the cart and GB so they stick together, but it kinda doesn't work!

And Nintendo recommends we use water, not alchohol.

1. Buy another Game Boy off eBay, it's not like you have to get rid of your old one.
2. If you've had your Game Boy for 17 years, how old ARE you?  Didn't you say you were 13 about a year ago?
3. ALWAYS STICK TOGETHER NO MATTER WHAT

1. I don't trust EBay!

2. My brother had it before me! He let me play it!

3. How should I do that? I figure it should be the proper way!

4. If I have to buy it, it should be somewhere other than EBay!

Dude, eBay can be trusted, you just have to watch out for some users. Just make sure you buy from somebody who has a 98+ percent rating.

Only thing I hate about ebay is that they NEVER send it the right way.

Even the 10,000 rating 95%+ users send it the wrong way.  I just got a parcel post on what was supposed to be a priority mail, if I'm paying for shipping they should at least ship it the way they said they would.

That's why I only bother paying if it's USPS, because I know I'm not getting any Fed-Ex shit in here.

I clean my Gameboy stuff using large power tools.

Let me tell you that IT WORKS! Especially the drill. Reminds me of Wheel Gator's theme.
