Bah, anyone remember a strange little peripheral for the Game Boy Advance called the e-Reader? If you didn't, I wouldn't blame you, it was a strange piece of shit just like Game boy Camera (‘Cept Game Boy Camera was better, lulz.) You should know what it is, anyways because only a fwel wouldn't know what fuckzzzzzzz an e-Reader is. For those of you who don't, it was this huge, strangely shaped device you plugged into your Game Boy Advance that was released sometime in 2002. For it you’d have these cards that you’d scan through using some kind of special “dot code technology” developed by a company called Olympis, I think. With the e-Reader you could play some classis NES games after scanning like 5 cards through it, play some customizable Pokémon minigames, and do some stuff in Animal Crossing with them for example. Thing is, the e-Reader never really caught on with everyone except a few die-hard Nintendo fanboys (like me, lol) because it looked strange, was clunky and cumbersome and didn’t really appeal to everyone. Because of these bad sales Nintendo discontinued it sometime in 2004.
I remember when I first got one, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Mostly everyone except Fortune though I was a fwel for spending $40 on such a strange device. I bought some stuff for it (I was waiting for ages to play Ice Climber and Balloon Fight on a hand held), but I eventually got bored of it in 2003 and let Fortune borrow it for a few months. After he returned it to me, I was ashamed of having bought it, but I felt guilty about giving it away so I hid mine in a box for a few years. I was pulling through my technological crap today because I was looking for an X-Men comic (The anthology one that came with the The Last Stand DVD AKA when Stan Lee meets Magneto and Professor X) and found it and had this strange little nostalgia shock. Looking back at it now, I think if Nintendo had changed some things about it before the released it, it would have appealed to more people and would have sold better.
But, enough of my bullshit. DISSCUSS E-READER.
