My apologies,

         I hadn't intended to imply that was the only underlying factor. And certainly less so with videogames. I was making the comment in general. Anyone can appreciate any kind of music. Specifically at my job,though, the music  genres change between managers. It goes by time periods that are related to the times in which they grow up. But you could play the same song remade maybe five years ago and they wouldn't care.
 
   I found what you said about listening to something I never played before to be true too. FFX inspecific.

I will have to not generalize in the future. Or maybe just write simplified posts.

But if that was the only thing that seperated it from other counsels, what was stopping people from buying a backwards compatible system from a trusted company that could play dvd's to boot?(ps2?)

I think it has to do with where people's loyalties lied before the launches took place. I think that sega turned a lot of their supporters off in the time between the Dreamcast and the Saturn and Cd.

The games available and in development at launch also played a part in sales.

I'm with you there.

Although because of obvious reasons, the advance titles are bound to be better than the gamegear, I still thought that the new graphics, control and all around layout of the game was bad compared to the originals. In those first games, the controls were tight, the character's responded well, generally and the layout of the levels made it out for smooth and yet challenging the first few times around. In advance 1 which I did finish, I thought the new graphics made for sloppy control. The levels seemed over simplified. It isn't the worst (3d blast?) but just the same, its not like it used to be.

I would'nt waste my money on any of those for the GBA. I had the mispleasure of receiving sonic advance as a gift. It sucked hardcore.

Some good things just shouldn't be messed with.

I would like to see a revival of all the classic system games. 8, 16 bit and otherwise

I find often that people like the songs often for the context in which they were played instead of the song itself. With that being said I can say that I have played so many genesis games that I would have to say I like Ecco: The Tides of Time or any of the sonic games most. As far as music composition, Nobou Uematsu has outdone most people by far.





Does anyone know anything of the Shadow of the Colossus OST?

Anyways, its hard to pin the downfall of something on any one cause.
    It is more common now for games to be multiple systems. No matter what company takes the top for now, What should concern us now isn't what company is the top seller of systems, but rather, what they plan to do with what they have, and what  and how other factors (in U.S.)   developer's crap (that is to say EA) are going to influence the next generation of gamers.

As for me, I'm content with my genesis and my computer.
