Title: Sky High: TPH Chronicles
Post by: Swiftman on August 31, 2005, 02:06:53 am
I saw the movie Sky High today. It's about a kid who is the son of the two biggest super heroes around, so he goes to Super Hero High School, better known as Sky High. There the kid finds out that despite his two super parents, he himself has no powers. Then the school gets taken over via an overly complicated evil villian plot, and the two parents are immobolized, so it's up to the kid to save the day. He then finds out he has both his fathers strength and his mother's flying. He then uses the help of some sidekicks to save the day in a glorius final battle.

Now, more on the school of Sky High itself.

Students are taken there via a bus. Yes, a normal, yellow school bus. It goes around the neighbourhood, picking up the kids. Then, on it's way to the school, it goes on a blocked off road and rides off of into the airborne, hovering school of Sky High.

After that, the freshman are taken into the gym to be introduced to Coach Boom, to be segregated into the Hero or Sidekick classes. If your power is good and powerful, then to Hero you go. If it can't do much, then you to go Sidekick classes. (think Hogwarts, only minus the year round staying, and the only houses are Hero and Sidekick)

Now, after your class is designated, you take several courses. Things like:
Math (If you are zooming at the villian at 40 MPH and he is barreling to you at 60 MPH, how long before you collide?)
Mad Science (build a freeze gun!)
and PE

One of the biggest thigns in PE (other than changing. You step behind a curtain, and a second later you're changed, ala many super hero stories) but the biggest game in PE is "Save the Citizen!"

Basically they strap a dummy (not you, Trigger. *shot) over a myriad of spinning, sharp blades. The timer is sett for 3 minutes. A team (usually 2) choose to be villians, and the others the heroes. The villians must prevent the the heroes from rescuing the citizen, and the heroes must rescue the citizen before the timer is up.

Now, after seeing this movie, I got a brilliant idea....

We'll do what we did with the ill-fated but still outragouesly fun Resident Evil: Moline. We'll take turns doing a novel-style mini-chapters, where we show our mishaps in the school of Sky High (we'll leave out all movie characters, otehr than the staff of the school)

Now, what I need from you all, is your Hero stats (we'll all be int he Hero class, right?)

I'll go first, for an example.

Hero name: Swiftman
Mild-mannered alter ego: Devon Kirk (or just Kirk, cuz that sounds sounds better than my snobbish first name)
Powers: Higher than average running speed and extremely high agility
Main personality traits: Slightly random, a reminencer (one who reminences), can be a charmer if needed, but doesn't want to be [nor has the need ;)]
Ulterior skills: Operation of old computers, useage and workage of mechanics, operation of new computers, and the BEST to have on a dodgeball team

Now then..... Everyone who wants to join, say your skills and stuff, and we'll get underway!

(quick quote stats for you:
Hero name:
Mild-mannered alter ego:
Powers:
Main personality traits:
Ulterior skills:
[/quick quote]

You can introduce whoever you want in the story, so long as the amount of characters doesn't go overboard. Write in standard novel format, ala Snowcraft and RE: Moline.

And most of all, HAVE FUN!

Hero name: Face Man
Mild-mannered alter ego: Robert McAwesomepants. What? An awesome name doesn't mean an awesome person.
Powers: Super Belch, Hyper Belch and Giga Belch. All varing strengths of a very loud, superpowerful belch can destroy almost anything. Usually the Super Belch is enough, but I've had to use the Hyper and Gigas on a few enemies.
Main personality traits: Likes cracking one-liner jokes. Generally a fun guy to be around, but that dry sense of humor sometimes gets annoying. Hopes to someday poses the ultimate power of being able to do the Super Poot on command.
Ulterior skills: Has the ability to travel through space via the fifth and a half dimentia-n. This usually doesn't take him far though, and often leaves him in a slightly "out of it" state. He can fly, but he usually forgets to do it, and ends up walking everywhere.

Hero name: Pilloiw Man

Mild-mannered alter ego: Guy Farnkner

Powers: Ability to control wind, thus flying, sending super powered gusts of wind, and making cool whoosh noises

Main personality traits: Likes making puns and sweeping girls off their feet, but only on Thursdays.  However, Thursday is sucha day that he is always too preoccupied to do said sweeoping.  Is always the first or last to be done eating.

Ulterior skills: The ability to create a potent fireball using friction on an object and superheating it.  Not to be confused with a conventional fireball.  Has developed special melee skills involving wind coming same ad opposite directinons as kicks and punches.

Ha HA! This is gonna turn out great!

And Bladegash, I was thinking more on making you a teacher, but if you wanna be in it, sure! But I have one question. By destroying and obliterating things, is that in looking at something and willing it to blow up, or what?

I can be a teacher, as long as you don't mind week-long vacations quite often. =)

Heh. Of course! S'not a prob. You can maybe have teleport skills too, so you're the long-distance hero that has to go to Instanbul when the need arises. (and you need to 'save' people for a week everytime. <_< >_>)

And for the teacher, what subject...... Mad Science is Taken, so is PE, and Math.... The English Teacher? Spanish? German? Take yur pick, Gashy.

Okay, I decided my character was waaaaaay too much of a rip off of Hell Rider, and I know nothing about mechanics...so.....I'm someone else, Skull Rider does not exist.

Hero name: Cortex

Mild-mannered alter ego: Winston Lonchester Lovington (what a crappy name)

Powers:  Having powers unrealated to his name, Cortex can create barriers around him self or other objects, and can influence, but not control, electricity.

Main personality traits:  he always likes being part of the group, he is also very energetic, lively, and always loves a good joke

Ulterior skills:  Is a quick swimmer, but swims alone (last time he swam in a group, he gave everyone nasty electical shocks on accident, nobody died, but boy were they pissed), and he enjoys solving mazes and puzzles that involve physical manipulation.

Oh, this looks like fun! Now... let's see...

Hero name: Montez

Mild-mannered alter ego: Meara Angeline Murphy

Powers: Manipulating gravity, and making things float and fly through the air. However... somethings are too heavy, or unable to be lifted by her powers just yet, but she's practicing.

Main personality traits: Tries to be helpful, but gets to be clumsy at times, and trips fairly frequently. Usually a cheery disposition, and tries to stay optomistic, and happy.

Ulterior skills: Will defend those who she feels are being degrated, though not very often. She's more quiet, and shy. She tries not to attract too much attention, and stays in the back. Though, if someone she holds dear is being threatened, or worse she will step up on a rare ocasion to fight, though... it usually scares her half out of her mind.

Mild-Mannered alter ego: Jehuty

Powers: Being an ex-pirate and a ninja I can vanish and do ninja and pirate stuff.

Personality traits: I'm the mysterious guy. I don't believe in teamwork, but I will assist when I am most needed. No one knows much about me, but I'm just that cool and badass.

Ulterior skills: I have basic knowledge of Close Quarters Combat and know how to use the terrain to my advantage.

So.... HERE WE GGGGGGGGGGOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooo!!!!11!

"Ugh.... Why is the bus so late?"
Kirk stopped his grumbling after he got an elbow to the rib from Meara.
"Quit complaining. You actually WANT to hurry to school?" She said to him with disgruntalation in her voice.
"Normally, yes. But I can't wait to go to Sky High! I mean, c'mon. I'm gonna do great! I know it!" Kirk put a hand on Meara's arm. "Watch."
Taking a step back from her, Kirk stood straight, bent down and jumped. His launch sent him several feet in the air, and he leaned his body and did a double front flip before landing gracefully on his feet.
"Well? How was that?"
Meara looked very unimpressed. "Nothing I haven't seen already a few hundred times."
Kirk gave her an incredulous look. "You're just jealous cuz you can't do it."
Meara raised an eyebrow at him. "Can't I?"
Without even moving an arm, she closed her eyes and her body lifted up a few feet in the air. She spun her body around a couple times, then set herself down again.
Kirk raised his eyebrows slightly, quite impressed. "I didn't know you had gotten that good yet."
Meara shrugged. "I've been practicing. Oh look, there it is!"
Kirk leaned forward in the street, further forward than anyone else could (at a 45 degree angle) and he saw that the bright yellow School bus was indeed approaching.
"AwRIGHT! Finally!"
The bus eased to a stop in front of them, the door closest to Meara than Kirk.
The door opened, and the bus driver was able to be seen.
"Hey there, kids! Ron Wilson, bus driver! C'mon in!"
Meara stepped up into the bus, recieving a polite tip of the hat and a hello from the corpulent driver. Kirk got on and Ron said heya and the two students looked at the occupants of the bus.
Nearly every seat was taken, and the range of the variance in the students was quite extensive at first sight.
Kirk looked through and tried to find a seat. He spotted an empty one, near the middle. He nudged Meara along to that seat, and she willfully went along with it. She took the window seat and Kirk got the edge. Once they sat the bus began to lurch forward and on their way.
The bus moved along slowly, picking up kids here and there.
Kirk started up a conversation with meara. "Did you get the impression that our bus driver is a wuss?"
Meara looked at Kirk funny. "What do you mean?"
"He's driving SO SLOW! It's painful to endure!"
"Just because you can comprehend fast moving things doesn't give you a reason to complain about slow movers."
"Hey, I like to move fast, okay? QUICKLY QUICKLY! It's how I roll!"
Meara gave Kirk's face a push. "Please, like I don't know that well enough. You always running circles around me, doing flips over me, I know darn well how you like speed."
"You say it like it's a bad thing."
"Well.... No, but it does get annoying every so often."
The bus suddenly turned into a road that was clearly marked off as under construction and closed.
"Eh?" Kirk stood up in his seat to see what was going on.
Ron Wilson turned on his PA system. "Hold on, kiddies! Our next stop is Sky High! Hold on!"
The bus picked up speed rapidly, getting faster by the second.
"What's going on?" Meara started to look worried.
"Ah, YEAH! This is more like it!" Kirk exclaimed and sat down, ready for more speed.
Then the road came to an end.
And there was nothing but air underneath them for a few hundred feet.
Every student in the bus began to scream, Kirk included.
Ron, calm as a pickle, spoke into his PA system again. "No worries, kids! I'm a professional bus driver!"
"THANKS FOR THE REASSURANCE!" Meara yelled out in anger and fear.
After plumetting for a few more meters, Ron gripped a lever beside him, and gave it a mighty pull.
Suddenly, out of the sides of the bus, wings folded out. Meara was right beside them and got a first hand look at the transformation.
Then, with a second flip of a lever, jet engines popped out of the back of the bus. The engines burst into life, and the bus began to jet forward at an incredible rate.
Soaring through the air at an incredible speed, the school bus was piloted by the expertly trained hand of Ron Wilson. His great arms steered the vehicle with well practiced prescision, only making a an adjustment to direction here and there.
All the students inside of this bus were looking out of the window in a mix of awe and fright. One girl went into frights, since she was afraid of heights, but a guy came and comforted her right away.
Ron spoke into his PA system. "Is everyone okay? Good!" he continued without giving an answer. "In a few seconds, past this cloud and to the left, you will see the school Sky High!"
One cloud was passed and the great school was revealed.
It was a great building, positioned on top of a hovering, artificial field of grass set on top of a metal plate with a dome-like bottom. The school itself had a standard school shape to it, but banners of varying sorts and colors flew on it's entrance side, a statue of the great hero who founded the school right in the center of the front of the school.
Kirk peered over Meara's shoulder at the school. He could feel a few other students leaning over to see the magnificennt building, but they sat down in their seats once Ron said they were coming in for a landing.
The bus settled on the ground in a smooth, soft landing on the ground of the school. Several other busses were parked already, and Ron was the 7th of them in line.
The door of the bus opened up and the students piled out, feeling slightly thankful for their feet being placed on the ground.
As soon as Kirk and Meara got out of the bus, they saw the myriad of powers at work on the front grounds.
A team of cheerleaders was cheering to Sky High. Upon closer inspection Kirk noticed that they were infact the same girl, multiplied several times. Kirk saw a guy with laser vision zap a girls ass playfully, followed by her using freeze powers on him, encasing him in a block of ice. A guy with elastic powers was taking huge strides to move faster through the crowd, his legs extended. A speed runner was running around in a blur around the groups of people, hardly able to be seen. A couple flyers flew overhead, and a technopath was messing around with some electronics by using mastery over technology via telekinesis.
Kirk couldn't help but whistle in amazement. "Wow." He said to Meara.
She surveyed the scene and was in wonderment at all the different powers that was being beheld there.
"You the rookies?"
The students that had been in the bus with Kirk and Meara turned to a voice that had addressed them.
It was a tall, dashing boy, in his senior years at Sky High evidently, and he had an air of control around him, like no one could question his authority.
"Well? Are you the rookies?"
"Yes." A timid girl said quietly.
"Good. Follow me, then." He turned on his heel and strode for the school, everyone following him, Kirk in the lead.
He lead the group into the gym of the school, a great huge room with plenty of space, and a hardwood flooring with concrete rafters rising up from the ground and to the roof.
The older guy spun on the heel again and faced the rookies.
"You must know me before you continue in Sky High. I am Daraki Fleck, or just Fleck, if you please. I am the student body president, and I have brought you here to get assessed."
An uneasy murmur spread through the rookies. Assessed, already?
Kirk punched his palm. "Bring it! I'm ready!"
Fleck gave Kirk a cold stare, which made him stop immediatly. "Before we do that though, you should know the classes." He cleared his throat. "Depending on the magnitude of your powers, you will be seperated into either the Hero class or the Sidekick class. After that there is no turning back from your designated class. Any questions?"
A tall, burly student stuck his hand up. Fleck turned his face to him.
"Who decides which class we go to?" He asked.
"That would be none other than-"
Fleck stopped speaking and in the middle of the gym behind Fleck a round platform crashed down. It was like half of a sphere, cut in half down the middle. Standing on it was a tall man, in a blue jacket, white shorts and a blue and white baseball cap. He was carrying a clipboard, and he looked to be of middle age.
"Me." The teacher on the platform said in a voice that commanded respect.
Fleck looked up to the teacher. "I'll leave the rookies in your hands, Coach."
Coach didn't even turn his head. "Fine. I got them."
Fleck walked around the rookies and out of the gym. They watched him go, but their attention was snapped to the coach.
"Lissen up, rookies! I'm gonna be the one who decides where you go, and it's up to me to tell you where to go! You can call me Coach Boomer, better known as SONICBOOM!"
The last word was magnified to a dangerous level of loudness, sending a shockwave through the air and knocking hats off of heads. It was apparent he was the old, retired superhero from a decade ago that used his voice as a weapon.
"Now, each and every one of you will step up to this platform and display your power. From there I will decide if you're a Hero or a Sidekick. Got it?"
A murmur of agreement was heard in the rookies.
"I said, GOT IT!?" He used his power to yell out the last two words.
"Yes sir!" The rookies replied back in sudden entusiasm.
"Good! Now then..." Boomer looked at his clipboard. "Perry! Get yer butt up here!"
A rather short boy stepped up to the platform. His hair was short, but dyed black and gelled above the ears to spike out. He looked rather skinny, but still had a feeling of strength around him.
"Perry! I knew your dad." Boomer snapped his fingers. "Show me what you got."
"Gladly."
As that word was spoken, somehow they were turned to be visible sound waves in the air. They moved like water, only not quite, and they were floating in the air. Perry held his hand under the waves, and he moved his hand around and the waves circled around Boomer in rapid circles.
"What in the...." Boomer said, confused.
As the words were said, teh waves increased in size and visibility. Perry moved his hand still, and the waves returned to hovering above his hand.
"Ah, control of sound energy. How good are you at it?"
Perry flicked his hand and the waves hit Boomer in the face, acting like a punch to the face.
"NO STRIKING THE TEACHER!" Boomer yelled out with his massive voice.
With much concentration, Perry focused all sound energy produced by Boomer and were added to the wave formation that was at his whim. The swarm of noise was now much larger than before, and looked like Perry was struggling to hold it all.
"Wow. Good job! Go on to Hero class, son!"
Perry's face cracked in a smile and the sound waves were released from his control. It sent a shockwave spreading across the whole gym, uprooting floorboards and shatttering windows. Perry jumped off the platform and went to sit in the bleachers to watch everyone else.
"Next up is.... Farnkner! Where are you?"
A mid sized boy stepped up to the platform. He had on only a simple button shirt over an under t-shirt and denim jeans, and his brown hair matched the color of the outer shirt.
"I'm Guy Farnkner."
"Thanks for that useless, already known info. Whatcha got?"
"This." Farnkner waved his hand and a sudden gust of wind nearly knocked everyone off their feet.
Boomer was unaffected by this show. He stood resolutely and stared down Farnkner. "So you can make a pretty gust of wind. Very nice. Anything else?"
"Yep! Sure do!"
Farnkner waved both his hands from straight out and into his body. He suddenly lifted off and flew into the air. He zoomed a few laps around the gym, moving at quite a considerable speed.
"Nice. You can control the wind. You're not the first I've seen."
"That's not all. I got more!" Farnkner said as he landed on the ground, away from the platform.
He waved his hand and a chair flew from it's resting place on the gym wall and into his hands. He held it up with both arms, then wiggled his fingers to levitate the chair in the air. He spun his hands around in a circle, and the chair began to rotate. It started slow, then picked up speed faster and faster, until it was mainly a blur and nothing else.
Boomer tapped his feet impatiently.
Farnkner suddenly lifted his arms up and threw them down on the ground. It sent the chair flying into the air, but it was no longer recognizable as a chair.
A burning fireball was streaking across the cavernous room, ricocheting off of the concrete and zooming around, it's flight manipulated by Farkners expert control.
Boomer couldn't help but crack a smile. "Very nice! Very nice indeed! Hero class!"
"Really?" Farnkner smiled and stopped his control of the burning chair. It bounced on the ground a few times before coming to a stop by the wall, still smoldering. Farnkner strode over and took a place behind Perry in the bleachers.
"Now for...... Mc..... McAwesomepants?"
A male hopped onto the platform. "Thats me. Robert McAwesomepants"
Boomer raised an eyebrow. "What can you do? Set yoru pants on fire?"
The rookies laughed politely.
Robert grinned to one side. He stuck his chest out, made a strange internal sound, and made a humungous belch. The sheer volume of this burp was enough to shake the platform, and Boomer was nearly sent off the side of the stand.
"Oh... kay. Strange as it is, it's useful. Hero!"
Robert did a strange victory dance for a second, then went and joined Farnkner and Perry.
"Now for Murphy! You there, Murphy?"
Meara stepped from the crowd and onto the platform. She tripped on a step on the way up, but regained her balance quickly and stood in front of Boomer.
"So what can you do?"
"I can manipulate gravity on objects in my surroundings."
"Sounds good. Prove it."
"Okay...." Meara stood straight, moved her hands off of her side and concentrated. Her eyes shut in the effort, and the platform was beginning to shake. Boomer looked down cautiosly, and contemplated jumping off. He stood his ground, however, and the platform was raised well off of the ground and hovered several meters off the ground.
"Okay! Okay! You get to go to hero class! Now put me down!"
Meara relaxed slowly and the platform was set back down to the ground.
The tryouts went on for a while longer, bringing in a burly, sasquatch-like boy, a pirate-ninja, an electricity user, and a girl with high skill in weapons and super strength into the Hero class. A few made it into sidekicks, but not really that many.
There was only Kirk left.
"KIRK! Get up here!"
Kirk took a few steps and did a high jump onto the platform with very little effort.
"Ready, Boomer! Prepare to be amazed...."
"A hotshot, huh? Put your money where your mouth is."
"Don't worry about that.... Heh heh...."
"Shut up and go!"
Kirk cracked his neck, did a quick ham strong stretch, then prepared to jump.
He bounded off the platform and flew in the air for a few meters. He landed on his feet and began to run as fast as he could. He ran along one wall of the gym at a speed that was still seeable, and was far faster than a normal human. He turned the corner and jumped onto the wall. His momentum enabled him to run a few steps on the side of the wall, but wasn't enough to keep him there for long. He kicked off the wall and did a side-flip and landed on his feet on the ground and kept running, not stopping once.
He ran straight forward and plumeted straight for the bleachers where everyone was sitting. He took a leap, jumped off a bleacher chair, soared over a few more, did another jump, nearly straight up and over Meara, landing a seat bahind her and taking more running jumps on bleacher seats, dodging in between sitting students, then met the wall.
Instead of stopping, Kirk put a foot on the wall and began to run up the wall. He couldn't go very far again, but instead of running down again he bent down and kicked off of the wall. He did a double flying backflip in the air, over the students, then landed on his feet. Kirk made a sweetass landing position as he landed, both hands outstretched and feet in angular positions. He breathed in and out hard. He always had a stamina problem.....
The students burst into appaluse at the amazing show of agility and speed.
Boomer sighed and yelled out "Hero."
Kirk stood up and did a quick victory dance, resembling a mix between the chicken dance and the macarena.

And so the Swiftman is tired...... Been typing for 4 hours straight.... *stumbles to bed and crashes on bed*

"Show off."
"Hey, what can I say, some have the skills, some don't."
Kirk, full of himself at his little demonstration takes, sits down next to Meara, completely oblivious to the "pffffffffffffft."
"HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!  WE GOT 'EM"
"That was pretty good."
"Pretty good?  That was great."
"Well is wasn't THAT funny."
*smack*
"Relax why don't cha.  The hardest part is over."
Kirk looks behind him at the voices and sees a tall, lanky kid with spikey, dry looking black hair, a big, burley, and might I add, hairy kid, and a rather normal looking guy, sitting in the top bleacher.  Having gone last, he recognizes the kids, from left to right, as that electropathe, that one strong guy, and that guy with the amaizing belching power.
"Sorry about that.  It was HIS idea."  The lanky kid points at the increadable burper.  "I didn't want him to do it, but still, it was kinda funny.  Go ahead, take a look."
Kirk, standing up nervousely takes a look at were he was sitting to see just a plain, ordinary whoopie cushion.
"Real mature guys." growled Meara.
"Oh come on, don't be sore about it."  Bellowed the beastly boy in the middle.  "We were just having a 'spot of fun'.  Muh names Jason."
"I'm Robert"
"And I'm Cortex."
"Wait, I though it was Win..."
And arc of electricity jumps from Cortex's finger and zaps Jason in the shoulder.
"Its Cortex.  I hate my real name."
"And you are?"
"Hi, I'm Kirk, and this is my friend, Meara."
*rolling her eyes*  "Hello."
Jason, brimming with exitement, "So, does anybody know what happens next?"

"I guess we wait for Boomsy to tell us." Said Rob, nodding towards the coach, who was writing something on his clipboard, glancing up at the students every now and then.

"Well, you guys got your super hero names chosen yet?" Cortex asked. "Of course I've gotten mine."

"I'll be Swiftman!" Kirk said.

"You sure you don't want Shatner?" Rob said, but no one laughed at the joke. "Well, anyway, I'll be Face Man." He said, letting out a small belch that ruffled Meara's hair. Oh, sorry. Hey, I didn't catch your name," he said, holding out a hand to shake. "A shame, too, your rather cute." Kirk glared at Rob, but no one noticed.

"Well, I'm Meara, and I'll be Montez."

"Why Montez?" Swift looked over at her, but before she could answer a bell rang.

"ALL RIGHT, ROOKIES, QUIET DOWN NOW." Boomer yelled over the crowd. Everyone went silent.

Eh... I don't wanna write stuff though, but someone can write with me in their part or whatever. If that's okay with people, then I guess I'll fill out a little profile dealie. IF THIS STORY NEEDS JODY, THAT'S HOW IT'S GOIN' DOWN. DAMMIT.

((Okay, I'm going to force this topic to live... BECAUSE I CAN! If you don't like it... uhh.... you can yell at Swift... ^.^))

Meara had no time to answer before Boomer got them quieted down.

He walked over and faced them. "Alright, so, first thing's first. You'll both get your class scheduals. Because of your hero or sidekick class you'll be getting different things. Though, all of you will take classes that focus on your abilities. Now, it's already lunch, so you won't get your scheduals until after that. We'll have to get things all sorted out. So, the lunch room is down the hall, and a lot of kids eat outside. So... what are you waiting for? Go!" he said. The students did as they were told, and made their way towards the door, funneling their way out.

As the students continued to walk towards the lunch room Meara found herself once more surrounded by boys. "You never answered me," Kirk said. "Why Montez?"

For an answer Meara found it fitting to ask him, "Pourquoi avez-vous sélectionné le Swiftman nommé ?" She got strange looks from all of them. "I said, Why did you pick the name Swiftman."

"Isn't it obvious?" Meara rolled her eyes. Apparently he wasn't getting it.

"I speak French. Montez is French for soar, so kill me for being creative," she said shrugging.

"Nah... I like it..." Kirk said. The students filed into the lunch room, and got something that looked strangely like a flatened stress ball. They made their way outside, and found a table to sit at. There where quite a few of them. Kirk Meara, Robert, Guy... and the list goes on. They slowly started up a conversation.

Guy sat on the end of the seat, looking at his flattened food with skeptisism. "Uh..... Any of you guys know what this is?"
"Who cares? I'm not even hungry." Robert picked up his serving, inscpected it, and threw it over his shoulder, hitting a random passerby.
Kirk didn't even bother with the fork. He picked up the squished mush and gave it a great chomp. He chewed it a few times, everyone around him looking at him.
Kirk looked at them and said with a full mouth "What?"
"How is it?" Guy asked.
"Horrible. I'm still gonna eat it, though."
Guy followed suit with Robert and chucked his food into a nearby garbage can. Meara did the same, and they watched Kirk eat his food with an incredible amount of willpower.
"Why are you eating it if it tastes awful?" She asked.
"I need my energy. This thing is chock full of them. I gots to have my carbo's, right?"
They all kept silent at that.
"So, uhm.... Robert...." Guy started to say. "Your powers...."
"Yeah?"
"Exactly WHAT are they?"
"They're kinda like Boomsy's power, only they're focused through movement up my esophagus. Stomach acids also influence the power of my belch."
Guy blinked. "Ya don't say?"
Kirk had long finished his wad of mystery food and had decided to join in the conversation.
"I wonder what classes I'm getting. I hope I get Mass Destruction!" Kirk said, his breath getting slightly foul."
A huge boy walked up to the group and stopped in front of them. "Mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is taken."
Kirk and Meara nodded in synch.
"Thanks." He went to an empty spot beside Robert and sat on it, shifting the whole weight of the table to one side. Kirk latched his foot around another table to prevent it from tipping while Guy  melted the table legs into the floor to cover more area, thus increasing the holding power of it to the ground.
The boy that sat down they recognized as Trigger. His huge size made them glad they were heroes and not villians.
"So Trigger.... Got any powers other than super strength?" Meara asked him.
Everyone looked at her.
"What?"
"Why would he have 2 powers?"
"I've seen it before! Most heroes have two powers, like Guy!"
Trigger gave a belch. "Yeah, I sorta do. My second power isn't really that good yet. I'm still working on it."
They noticed that he had already finished his double helping of the putrid mass they had for lunch, and already had cleaned himself.
"What power is that? Inhaling food?" Robert made a small quip.
Trigger glared at him. "Ha ha. It's actually something way cooler."
They saw him screw his face up and it seemed that his eyes were glowing slightly.
Everyone faced to where his face was pointed, and they saw that the bush that was once barely visible had grown much more prominent.
"Oh! You're a Naturepath!" Guy exclaimed.
Trigger looked to him. "Uh, yeah."
Just then a very fair looking figure of a girl strode past the table. Robert took a good eyeful as she walked past, Guy took a good glance, Meara showed as much interest as she should, and Kirk's eyes hardly flicked over, but Trigger's eyes lit right up.
When he saw her shapely curves, her wonderful face, her red streaked brown hair that hung past her shoulder blades, Trigger went wild in his head.
"Uh.... Excuse me guys." Trigger got up and went after the girl.
Kirk rolled his eyes. "Any wonder what he's after?"
Suddenly a noise boomed on the intercom. "ALL NEW STUDENTS REPORT TO THE GYM IMMEDIATLY."
Kirk stood up in an instant while the others slowly lurched up. They all followed Kirk to the gym, since he walked the fastest.
Upon entering the gym, three teachers were seen standing in the middle. One was immediatly recognizeable as Boomer. One other one had a massively swollen head and a white lab coat on, and the third looked to be Robin from Batman, only at 50 years old.
"Good hustle on getting here, rookies!" Boomer yelled as they approached. Before anyone could say anything he continued. "Right now we have your new timetables ready. There are 4 periods to each day, two morning, two afternoon, 80 minutes a class. Here are your timetables." Boomer started to pass out small slips of laminated paper. "The classes you're taking differ according to your powers. Take a look at them and prepare for tomorrow. You have the rest of the afternoon off to gather your supplies from the bookroom and to wander the school. Know the layout of it, and determine the best route from class to class. EVERYONE UNDERSTAND!?"
The weaker students were blown back by the sudden yell, but the more sturdy ones remained their footing. "Yes sir!"
"Good! Now, To my left is the main science teacher, Mr. Exala," Boomer pointed a thumb at the teacher in the white lab coat and massively swollen head. "And Skippy here teaches the a majority of the sidekicks classes."
The skinny, greying man with a large bushy mustache smiled and nodded to the students.
"What a geek..." One of the students whispered. A couple other kids laughed slightly, but the culprit to that comment was never found.
"Now then." Boomer said and yelled out "DIIIIIISSSS-MISSED!"
All the students turned around and headed out, ready to wander the school.
"Where are you guys going?" Kirk asked Robert, Guy and Trigger.
"We're gonna find a way to get on the roof. Wanna come, Kirk?" Robert said as he started for the front exit.
Kirk's eyes whipped to Meara for an instant. In that second he saw her look of frustration at them, then returned his attention to Robert. "Nah, I'll pass. I've already gotten in trouble at my old school for being on roofs. Good luck, though."
Robert shrugged. "All right then. C'mon guys. I think I saw a ladder or something on the north wall...."
Meara started walking down a hallway. Kirk quickly followed her.
"What classes did you get, Meara?" He asked as they walked.
"Uhm..." She looked at her timetable. After a second of looking, she tripped on her feet and started to fall, but Kirk grabbed her by the shoulder and hoisted her back up.
She fixed her hair. "Thanks..."
He nodded. "S'nothin. I'm used to catching you. Maybe we should get your inner ear checked."
She gave him an incredulous look. "Oh, please. I'm not THAT bad."
He grinned. "Sure sure. You keep telling yourself that, but...."
Frustrated, she stuck a foot out against his foot and pushed his back.
In a split second move he did a front flip and landed on his feet again, doing a full spin in a very short height, landing on his feet crouched.
He stood up quickly and grinned at her wonderfullistically. "Too Swift for you."
Her expression of awe and amazement couldn't be held back.
_Did he just do a full front spin with less than 3 inches of clearance!?_ She thought to herself.
"What're you looking at me for? You act like you've never seen me do a flip before." He laughed loudly once and kept walking down the hallway, trying to find his first class, Science.
He looked back. "C'mon! We don't got forever to dawdle! We only get one free afternoon! Let's HURRY!"
Kirk Made one quick step forward and found himself moving very, very quickly in the air.
_SHIT!_ Kirk thought in his head as he saw that the wall was coming up to his face, very, very quickly.
Reacting on instinct, he flipped his body around and landed on the wall feet first.
He panted for a second then fell off of the wall. He easily flipped around and landed on his feet. He stood up and looked at himself.
"What was THAT!?" He exclaimed out loud.
Meara ran up, a look of concern on her face. "Kirk! Are you okay?"
He looked at his own hands. "Yeah, I'm fine, just.... What was that?"
"It must be your secondary power! Looks like you can jet off sort of! Try it again!"
Taking a deep breath and concentrating, Kirk bent his legs, and jumped straight up.

Off on another end of the field stood two boys, comparing schedules.
"Arrr, this blows."  Said the shorter boy, wearing a pirate hat and ninja mask.  "It don't look like we be havin any of the same classes."
"Nope, sure doesn't look like it."  Said the other.  His short black, spikey hair crackled for a moment.  "Its to be expected.  You really don't have any super powers, but are really adept at combat.  I have shields and electricity, not much in common there."
Two more figures approached the group.  One, a huge lunbering mass of hairy power, and a small attractive girl with almost feline features.
"HEY GUYS!"  bellowed Jason.  "I'd like you two to meet a new friend of mine, say hello to Jody.
"Hello there boys."  Purred Jody, looking more and more like a cat at every moment.
"Hey, I'm Cortex, and this here is Jehuty."
"Arrrrrrr!"
"So, what powers do you have."  Crackled Cortex, trying really hard to mask his jealousy.  He wanted a totally hot catgirl too.
"Well, I don't like to brag, but.... I can control cats, and like, I have some very feline talents."
*gulp*"Heh heh, really, thats hotI mean, thats neat."
"Arrr, uh huh.  What he said."  Mumbled Jehuty absent mindedly.
"Well, we'll be off.  We've got to find our classes."
"YOU'VE GOT CLASSES TOGETHER??!!?!?!"
"Of course, we both have some amaizing powers of Nature.  See ya guys later."
"Uh huh."
"Yeah, see ya."
"Boy, would I like some o' dat booty."
"What?"
"Arrrr, I said nothin."
"Uh, huh.  Right."
"Well, you were ogglin' 'er too mate."
"Shut up, lets just find our classes."

The jump sent Kirk hurtling upwards at a very incredible rate, and only his pre-thoughts prevented his head from ending up in the roof. He had prepared himself to twist, just incase it worked, so he 'landed' on his feet, was held there for a second as his momentum eased, then flipped back over and stood next to Meara.
"Wow...." Her eyes were nearly the size of dinner plates.
"That's AWESOME! It's just like the Roc Wing from Castlevania, Circle of the Moon!" Kirk exclaimed.
A passing student had witnessed both of Kirk's moves. "Woah! That was sweet! Do it again!"
Kirk raised an eyebrow at the boy. "Okay!"
On a whim he made am angled line dash for the unsuspecting boy, moving at in credible speed for him. He attempted to dive out of the way, and he just barely made it out of the way before Kirk twisted himself to land on the wall that came in the way, which he kicked off of again and dashed for the other wall, which he jumped off of again, crossing the length of the hallway in a matter of seconds in a zig zag pattern.
Kirk stopped dashing at the end of the hallway, then did one quick dash to return to Meara.
"ha HA HA HA! This is AWESOME! Oh, oh, Meara! Watch!"
Doing a quick jump straight up and down, he touched the roof and  hit the ground again in a mere half a second.
She wasn't exactly too impressed, having the initial impression of it worn off by now.
"ha HA! I gotta show the guys! You comin, Meara?"
She shook her head. "No thanks. I'll just go and find my first class...."
Kirk's face contorted to a strange, unrecognizeable expression. "Okay.... See ya later." And he walked off at a slow trot.

"Say, does anyone know why Kirk stayed behind?"
The wind on the top of the school was much more powerful than that on the ground. Jody's hair waved in the gusts, which Guy made more powerful occasionally for fun.
Jehuty was sitting on the roof, eating a bagged lunch he had brought, which was a smart move, really.
"ARRR-itego!" He pulled out a plastic bag. "Doritoes!"
There was an immediate swarm to try and take the chips from Jehuty, but he used his ninjitsu skills to avoid all those attempting to take his precious chips.
"HEY GUYS!"
A loud yell had tore through the scene from below.
Guy was the first one to the edge. "Hey! It's Kirk!"
Kirk gave a wave from the surface.
"Hey, Kirk." Robert appeared by the edge with a cocky grin across his face. "Bet you're not swift enough to get up here."
Kirk returned the grin. "Aren't I, Rob?"
Acting instantly, Kirk dashed straight for Robert. he hurtled headlong against his face, but he didn't realize what was coming before it was too late.
Suddenly Jehuty's hand grabbed Robert in the cuff of his shirt and he yanked him out of Kirk's way.
Kirk turned around in midair and landed facing the group.
"Kirk! How'd you do that!?" Guy asked excitedly. "Can you fly?"
He shook his head. "Nope. I just can dash in any direction, like on CV, CotM." Kirk faced Jody and nodded at her. "Hey sis."
She cracked a smile and gave a little wave. "Hi, Bro!"
Trigger looked incredulously at Jody, then at Kirk. "You two are...."
Kirk and Jody nodded. "Yep. She's my sister." He said to the stunned crowd.
Trigger closed his eyes in frustration and yelled out. "You couldn't have told me that BEFORE I went to all the work of charming her!?"
Kirk shook his head. "Nope! And things are better when you earn them. I know what Jody is like. If you managed to get her to stay with you after trying to charm her or whatever, then you did good. Thumbs up, soldier!"
Kirk stuck a thumbs up at Trigger, who looked from Kirk to Jody and back again.
"Wait wait." Guy said and waved his hands in front of him. "If she's your sister, then how come you didn't get on the bus at the same time as her?"
Kirk sighed. "Parental problems, different kids went to different parents, long story short, we live in different houses."
"So if you joined Sky high in the same year, are you twins?"
Kirk shook his head. "No no no. She's shorter and has brown hair. I'm freaking tall and dirty blonde. Do we LOOK like twins? We're just born 9 months apart."
Guy nodded in agreement, all his questions answered.
Kirk sighed, sat down and leaned on his back, looking up at the clouds in dismay.
Jody's face appeared in Kirk's field of view. "Sumthin wrong, Swift?"
Kirk waved a hand. It's nothin. Dun worry bout me."
She sat down on his chest. "It must be SOMEthing if it has you acting like this."
Kirk shrugged. "It's minor. I'll have it dealt with by tomorrow."
Jody nodded slowly and continued to sit on Kirk, but only got up when Trigger threatened to sit on Kirk too.
